Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Disposes Of Robert Morris Posted: Saturday, February 12, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team scored three unanswered goals in the first period and coasted to a 4-2 victory over Robert Morris here tonight at Hobbs Ice Arena. The game will not count on the Blugolds' record or season statistics as Robert Morris is not recognized as a varsity sport. Karen Hebert (So.-Lakeville, MN/Holy Angels) put Eau Claire on the board 9:23 into the first period with a power play goal. Just two minutes later Tara Hayner (So.-Stillwater, MN) scored an unassisted goal to make the lead 2-0. Hayner added her second goal of the night less than two and a half minutes later for a three-goal first period advantage. Robert Morris countered with one goal in the final five minutes of the first period but Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) gave the Blugolds a power play insurance goal in the second period to make the score 4-1. Robert Morris tacked on a meaningless goal midway through the third period to finish the scoring at 4-2. Eau Claire earned a 36-26 shot advantage on the night as both teams finished 2-for-6 on the power play. The Blugolds will return to regular action next Friday and Saturday when they host Finlandia (MI) at 7:05 p.m. each night at Hobbs Ice Arena. - DN - |
