Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Hosts Two this Weekend Posted: Wednesday, February 9, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will look to end a two-game losing skid this Friday and Saturday, when the Blugolds welcome Lake Forest and Robert Morris to Hobbs Ice Arena. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m. Friday's game against the Foresters is a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association match up while Saturday's game will not count on the Blugolds' record as Robert Morris is a non-varsity hockey team. The Blugolds come into the weekend already owners of the most wins in any single season in Eau Claire history, with a record of 11-8-1. However, just one of the 11 wins have come in conference action as the Blugolds are 1-5-1 in NCHA play. The record places them fifth in the conference, just one point back of Lake Forest. With a win on Friday the Blugolds would move to fourth place in the NCHA standings. Eau Claire was in action three times last week, kicking the week off with a 12-0 win on Wednesday against Hamline. The 12 goals was a school record while the 11th win was also a school record. The weekend was not as nice for Eau Claire as the Blugold suffered 3-1 and 4-0 road losses to UW-River Falls and UW-Superior. Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) leads the Blugolds with 18 points and 12 goals. She is tied for eighth in the NCHA in points and tied for third in goals. Laura Suppes (So.-Falcon Heights, MN/Roseville) is second on the team and tied for eighth in the conference with nine goals on the season. Martina Korinek (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) leads the Blugolds with nine assists. The Foresters come into Friday's game with an overall mark of 8-7-4 and a conference record of 1-3-2, good for four points. They currently carry a four-game unbeaten streak, extended last Sunday in a tie with Finlandia (MI). Lake Forest has faced Robert Morris twice this season, both of the games resulted in losses for the Foresters though the games did not count on their record. The Blugolds, in contrast, defeated Robert Morris in the only meeting between the two teams this season. The Forester women do not boast a single player in the top 10 in the NCHA in points though Courtney DeHoey is tied for 10th in the conference with eight goals. Erin McGrath is ninth in the NHCA with 10 assists on the year. The lone meeting between Eau Claire and Lake Forest resulted in a 2-2 tie at Lake Forest. Suppes and Schultz recorded the tallies for the Blugolds while Schultz also assisted on a goal. The tie moved the all-time record between the two teams to 8-7-2, in favor of the Blugolds. Eau Claire has not lost to Lake Forest since February of 2003, a string of six straight contests. The action is set to begin Friday at 7:05 p.m. between the Blugolds and Foresters. The weekend will conclude with Eau Claire battling Robert Morris Saturday at 7:05 p.m. |
