Women's Hockey Blanked By Superior

SUPERIOR - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team managed just 14 shots on goal en route to a 4-0 shutout by ninth-ranked UW-Superior here tonight at Wessman Arena.
The Blugolds drop to 11-8-1 on the season and 1-5-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play while the Yellowjackets improve to 13-5-1 overall and 4-3-0 in the NCHA.
The two teams skated to a scoreless tie the entire first period but the Yellowjackets scored two goals within two minutes of each other midway through the second for a 2-0 lead. Superior put the game away with a third goal of the period coming with five minutes left in the second.
The Yellowjackets tallied one last goal in the third period to finish the scoring at 4-0. The Blugolds did not total more than five shots in any one period.
Eau Claire will look for its 12th win of the season next Friday when the Blugolds welcome Lake Forest to Hobbs Ice Arena for a 7:05 game time.
