ST. PAUL, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team tallied its school record 11th win of the season in style, pounding Hamline (MN) with a school record 12 goals in a 12-0 shutout of the Pipers here today at the State Fair Coliseum.

The previous record of 10 wins in a season was set last year by the Blugolds. The 12 goals scored tonight by Eau Claire is two more than the previous single game high of 10, accomplished twice including earlier this season against the same Hamline team. With the win the Blugolds improve to 11-6-1 on the season while the Pipers fall to just 3-13 overall.

Eau Claire got the scoring started early as Laura Brackey (Jr.-Oakdale, MN/Tartan) scored the first of her three goals on the night just 1:23 into the contest. Allison Timberg (So.-Tonka Bay, MN/Minnetonka) gave the Blugolds a 2-0 lead midway through the first period before Brackey struck again for her second tally of the night. Martina Korinek (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) found the back of the net 12:41 into the first to give the Blugolds a 2-0 lead.

Laura Suppes (So.-Falcon Heights, MN/Roseville) started the second period off with a bang, scoring two goals in the first 7:44 of the period for a 6-0 Eau Claire advantage. Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH), Theresa Guindon (Fr.-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) and Jessie Boyles (Jr.-Prior Lake, MN) all added goals in the second period to give Eau Claire a 9-0 lead heading into the third period.

Amber Stevenson (So.-Eagan, MN) found the back of the net early in the third to tie the school record of 10 goals in a game and Brackey broke the record with her third goal of the night for the hat trick. Stevenson tallied her second goal of the night to finish the scoring at 12-0.

The Blugolds had an astounding shot advantage for the game, rifling 55 shots at the Hamline goal while the Pipers managed just 11 shots on Blugold goalie Jill Arendt (Fr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata), who stopped all 11 shots for the shutout.

Brackey and Korinek each finished the game with three points. Brackey via her hat trick and Korinek with a goal and two assists.

The Blugolds will be back in action Friday night when they head to River Falls to battle the Falcons. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
