Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Swimmers & Divers To Host Hamline Friday Posted: Wednesday, January 26, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams will look for their second consecutive dual meet victories this Friday, when they host Hamline (MN) at 5:00 p.m. at the McPhee Physical Education Center. Both the men and women topped River Falls decisively last Friday, as the men won by a score of 154-57 and the women by a score of 157-65. The Blugolds had a combined 20 first-place finishes between the men and the women, counting four victories in relay events. On the men's side, Nick Peterson (So.-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.32 while Cale Schmidt-Jackson (So.-Duluth, MN/East) took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.82. Scott Heatwole (Jr.-Port Washington) earned a win in the 1-meter diving event, posting a score of 265.60. Brian Hauerwas (Fr.-Caledonia/Racine Case) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 56.16 seconds while Brian Schwartz (So.-Bemidji, MN) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 52.21 seconds. Peter Shafe (So.-Burlington) earned a win in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 58.86 seconds while Mike Carroll (Sr.-Green Lake) won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.93. Doug Horton (Fr.-Burnsville, MN) earned the final individual victory for Eau Claire, claiming the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.66. On the women's side, Sarah Fisher (Fr.-Milton) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:36.22 while Annie Gorman (Jr.-Menomonie) took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.42. Emmie Lee (Fr.-Zimmerman, MN/Elk River) won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:19.97 while Sarah Myers (So.-Eau Claire/North) won the 1-meter diving event with a score 228.40. Cori Severson (Jr.-Brainerd, MN) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.86 while Kyle Welke (Fr.-Eau Claire/North) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.89. Amanda Kroger (Fr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:31.26 while Emily Diehl (Fr.-Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie) earned a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.94. The Blugold men are 2-2 in dual meets this season, topping Mankato State and River Falls and falling to Stevens Point and La Crosse. The women are 1-3 in dual meets on the season, with the lone win coming against the Falcons. The Hamline men and women were in action last Friday and Saturday at the UW-Stevens Point Invite, where the men took seventh place out of eight teams and the women took eighth place out of nine teams. - DN - |
