Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestlers Fall To Platteville Posted: Tuesday, January 25, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - After forfeiting two weight classes, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling was strong in the lower weight classes but struggled in the upper weights falling to UW-Platteville 28-15 here tonight at the McPhee Physical Education Center.
The Blugolds got as close at 12-15 on a pin at 5:45 by Derek Sikora (Jr.-Neillsville) over Kurt Bellman at 165 but was outscored 13-3 in the final four matches to the Pioneers. The loss drops the Blugolds to 1-4 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meets while the 2-2-1 in WIAC duals. Shane Brady (Fr.-Chetek) put the Blugolds on the board scoring an 8-2 decision over Dane Droessler at 133. Tony D-Antuono (Jr.-Waukesha/South) continued the Blugold run at 141 with a 12-8 decision over Mike Nell. After a pin by Sikora, Josh Holforty (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) scored the final Blugold victory of the evening with a 4-1 win over Tom Venner. The Blugolds return to the mat on Friday, February 4 when they host a dual meet with Itasca Community College at 5:30 PM. Platteville 28, Eau Claire 15 125 - Corey Binger (PLT) won by forfeit. |
