Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Suffers Loss To Sixth-Ranked Pointers Posted: Saturday, January 22, 2005 STEVENS POINT - One night after nearly upending sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point, the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team dropped a 9-0 decision to the Pointers here tonight at the Ice Hawks Arena. The Blugolds fall to 9-5-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. It is the first time all season that Eau Claire has dropped back-to-back games. The Pointers improve to 15-2 overall and 7-0 in the NCHA. The two teams skated to a scoreless tie the first seven minutes of the contest but Kayli Hupp scored an even strength goal for the only goal the Pointers would need. Stevens Point finished with three goals in the first period, four goals in the second and two more in the third to round out the 9-0 score. The Blugolds lost the shot battle 42-13 on the day while eight of the Pointers' nine goals came in even strength situations. Eau Claire will try again to tie the single season school record of 10 wins this Wednesday when they head to Minnesota to battle Bethel.
