Sat, Feb 7, 2026 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track & Field Fifth at Winona State Easter Invite By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director WINONA, Minn. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's track & field team finished in fifth place out of nine teams at the Winona State University Easter Invitational today. The Blugolds finished with 72 points, taking fifth while Division II Winona State scored 190 for the win. Augustana finished second with 139.5 while UW-La Crosse was third with 109.5. Two Blugolds won events while there were six other finishes of fifth or better. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Kelly Palmer (Sr.-Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska) won with a time of 11:34.95. Ashlyn Mauer (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) finished first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:36.62. In the same event, three other Blugolds finished in the top six. Maria Peloquin (Sr.-Prescott, Wis.) finished in fifth place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:44.54 while the 4x100-meter relay team took fifth overall with a time of 51.89. In field events, Brittany Frederick (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) took second in the discus throw with a distance of 46.36 meters (152-01), an NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifying mark. Kayla Simon (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Regis) finished in fifth place in the high jump with a leap of 1.51 meters (4-11.5). A few Blugold women also competed at the Kansas Relays today. None advanced to finals but complete preliminary action can be found here. Next weekend the Blugolds will be in a number of different locations for competitions prior to the WIAC Championship. |
