WAVERLY, Iowa (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's track & field team kicked off the outdoor season the right way by finishing fifth of 15 teams at the Wartburg Select hosted by Wartburg College (Iowa).

The Blugolds earned 70 points in their team fifth place finish. Host Wartburg claimed victory with 160.50 points. Fellow WIAC schools UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater rounded out the top three with 80 and 70 respective points.

Kim Miresse (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) led the Blugolds with a victory in the 100-meter hurdles. Miresse completed the dash in just 14.75. In addition to the victory, Miresse’s time was fast enough to earn her a provisional qualifying spot.

Eau Claire also placed fourth or better in the 200 and 400-meter dashes as well as the 1,500-meter run. Jordanne Greenup (Jr.-Fridley, Minn.) raced to third in the 200 meter with a time of 25.65 while Talisa Emberts (Jr.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) earned fourth in the 400 meter with her time of 57.77. In the 1,500 meter race, Maria Peloquin (Sr.-Prescott, Wis.) crossed the line in 4:48.47 for fourth, leading teammate Ashlyn Mauer (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) in sixth.
