Gymnasts Set Team Record At Cardinal Classic

MUNCIE, Ind. - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team set the school team record with a score of 185.600 in taking fifth place at the Cardinal Classic held on the Ball State campus.
The record score eclipses the old record of 185.525 set at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Nationals a year ago. The Blugolds took fifth in the five team invite that included Div. I schools Illinois, Western Michigan, Illinois State and Ball State.
Alison Eagles (Sr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) tied the Blugold record in the vault with a score of 9.650. Eagles matched her own mark of a year ago in tying for seventh in the event. Eagles finished with a 37.650 in the all-around competition to take sixth.
Lynn Morris (Jr.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) had the top Blugold score in the uneven bars with a 9.375. Jenni Wick (Jr.-Sartell, MN) was the top Blugold on the balance beam with a score of 9.550 while Ashley Brett (So.-Forest Lake, MN) was tops in the floor exercise with a 9.550.
The Blugolds will be in action next when they compete against UW-La Crosse Friday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
