Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Track & Field To Host Blugold Open Friday Posted: Wednesday, January 19, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track and field team, fresh off its season opener last weekend, will host the 2005 Blugold Open this Friday at the Ade Olson Addition of the McPhee Physical Education Center. Field events for the meet are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. while track events will begin at 4:00 p.m. Joining the Blugolds at the event will be the University of Dubuque (IA), Bethel College (MN) and Northwestern (MN). Eau Claire kicked off its season last weekend at the Pioneer Open in Platteville, where no team scores were kept. John Schuna (Sr.-Hudson) was the only Blugold with two top-five finishes on the day. He took second place in the shot put with a throw of 15.42 meters (50-7?) and also grabbed fifth place in the weight throw. Adam Condit (Sr.-La Crosse/Central) earned the only first place finish of the day for Eau Claire as he won the one-mile run. Condit finished the event in a time of 4:30.65. Adam Koger (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) earned a second place finish in the 400-meter dash, finishing in a time of 51.15 seconds while Adam Sturgis (So.-Bruce) took fourth place in the 200-meter dash. Sturgis finished in a time of 23.43 seconds. Jake Ebner (Jr.-Cameron) also earned a fourth place finish on the day, claiming fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.74 while Nick Aliota (So.-Brookfield/Central) kicked the season off with a third place finish in the 55-meter hurdles. He recorded a time of 8.03 seconds. The final top-four individual performance of the day came from Justin Wolfe (Sr.-Brodhead), who took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.04 meters (13-3). At last year's home indoor invite the Blugolds were very successful, claiming eight first-place finishes at the meet. Schuna won the shot put event while Sturgis and Koger won the 200 and 400-meter dashes respectively. Aliota was the top finisher in the 55-meter hurdles and the Blugolds also claimed first in both relay events. Bethel comes into the 2005 Blugold Open win one event under its belt. The Royals kicked off their season last weekend with a dual meet with St. Thomas while Dubuque and Northwestern will each be opening their seasons in Eau Claire. - DN - |
