Sigrist Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track and field member Tony Sigrist (Jr.-Byron, Minn.) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Sigrist won one event while taking second in another at the UW-Stout Warren Bowlus Open Jan. 29. In the shot put, he grabbed the top spot with a toss of 15.03 meters (49-3.75), finishing almost two feet better than the rest of the field. In the 35-pound weight throw, he took second place with a mark of 18.17 meters (59-7.5), less than four feet from the top finisher and a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying distance.
