Thu, May 23, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestlers Defeat Lakeland, Fall To Oshkosh Posted: Friday, January 14, 2005 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire wrestlers defeated Lakeland College 25-9 but fell to UW-Oshkosh 27-16 here tonight at Albee Hall. The Blugolds opened with the victory over Lakeland. Derek Sikora (Jr.-Neillsville) got the matches started with his third pin of the year. Sikora pinned Lakeland's Nate Johnson in 2:03 to earn the win at 165 pounds. Lance Valiquette (Fr.-Eau Claire/Auburn) and Josh Holforty (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) continued their strong wrestling with wins in their respective classes. Valiquette won a 20-6 major decision at 174 pounds while Holforty took a 7-3 decision at 197 pounds. Justin Peterson (Fr.-Woodville/Baldwin-Woodville) earned his first win of the year with a 7-4 decision at 184 pounds while Shane Brady (Fr.-Chetek) won his seventh with a 4-0 decision at 133 pounds. Sikora, Valiquette and Holforty continued their winning ways against Oshkosh. Sikora won an 11-3 major decision at 165 pounds to improve to 12-1 on the year. Valiquette improved to 15-9 on the year following his 11-8 win at 174 pounds while Holforty moved to 16-3 with a 3-1 decision at 197 pounds. The Blugolds move to 3-7 in dual meets overall and 0-2 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual meets following the loss to Oshkosh.
