Women's Hockey To Host River Falls

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will look to extend their four game winning streak when they host UW-River Falls Friday at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Blugolds come in with a 1-14-3 lifetime record against River Falls. Eau Claire lost all five games against the Falcons last year by a total score of 27-7 including an 8-1 loss in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.

But the Blugolds earned their first ever win over River Falls in a contest earlier this year. Eau Claire scored the final four goals of the game to earn a 4-1 victory in the first game of their four game win streak. The Blugolds defeated Hamline, St. Mary's and Bethel in their last three contests.

Eau Claire comes into the weekend with a 7-3-1 record overall and a 1-1-1 record in the NCHA. The Falcons come in with a 7-7-0 record overall and a 3-2-0 record in the NCHA.

Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) leads the Blugolds with team-highs in points with 15, goals with 10 and power play goals with three. Laura Suppes (So.-Falcon Heights, MN/Roseville) is second on Eau Claire with eight points on five goals.

Jill Arendt (Fr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) has been solid in goal for the Blugolds. Arendt is third in the NCHA in the goals allowed average among goalies with nine games played at 1.77 goals allowed per game. Arendt has allowed only 18 goals all year for a .922 save percentage.

River Falls comes into the weekend with a five game losing streak. The Falcons have scored only two goals during the losing streak.

Jenny Wallace leads the Falcons in scoring with 12 points while Lindsay O?Keefe and Lou Paulson each have 11 points. Kelly Hurley is next with 10 points. Wallace, O?Keefe, Paulson and Hurley each have six goals to lead River Falls.

The Falcons have divided goalie time between Marlene Yaeger and Amber Lindner. Yaeger has played a majority of the minutes in goal with a 1.81 goals against average while Lindner has a 2.43 goals against average.

Eau Claire and River Falls are set to face off at 7:05 p.m. Friday and will travel to play at River Falls Saturday at 1:05 p.m.
