Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestlers Take Sixth At Cornell Invitational Posted: Saturday, January 8, 2005 MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team took sixth place with 55.5 points at the 27th Annual Cornell Matman Invitational held here today. Derek Sikora (Jr.-Neillsville) lost his first match of the year in the finals at 165 pounds. Sikora lost Augustana's Brian Daly in a 4-2 decision. Josh Holforty (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) and Drew Bingner (Fr.-Fort Atkinson) each finished third in their respective weight classes. Holforty defeated Millikin's Josh Lepper to take third at 197 pounds. Bingner pinned Morningside's Nathan Ploen in 57 seconds to finish third in the heavyweight division. Lance Valiquette (Fr.-Eau Claire/Auburn) had a chance at a third place finish but fell to Augustana's Nathan Demus 10-2 to finish fourth at 174 pounds. Coe College took first place with 147 points with Augustana finishing second with 105 and the University of Chicago third with 89.5. The Blugolds will be in action next when they wrestle Lakeland College Friday. The dual meet is set to begin at 5 p.m. - JL - |
