LA CROSSE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team snapped a 10-game winning streak after playing UW-La Crosse to a 1-1 double overtime tie today.

Despite the Blugolds outshooting La Crosse 30-15, Eau Claire found the back of the net just one time.

The score was tied 0-0 at halftime but the Blugolds came out strong in the second and scored a goal just three minutes into the half. Rachel Nerison (Jr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) scored the goal on an assist from Paige LeGate (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port).

The Blugolds held the lead for nearly 20 minutes but the Eagles scored at 65:03 to tie the game up at 1-1.

Neither team could get anything going the rest of the way and the teams played two overtimes to determine the outcome. While scoring no goals in overtime, the Blugolds outshot the Eagles 12-2.

Amanda Hakala (So.-Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) played all 110 minutes in-goal for the Blugolds and made three saves. La Crosse’s Emily Wick made 16 saves in-goal for La Crosse.

The Blugolds will be on the road again tomorrow for a game against Carleton College (Minn.). Action in Northfield will get underway at 3 p.m.
