Wrestlers Fall To Cornell

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team fell to Cornell College 30-19 here tonight at the Multi-Sports Center.
Josh Holforty (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) improved his record to 9-2 overall with a first period pin at 197 pounds. Holforty pinned Cornell's Justin Sinclair in 2:47 seconds for his team-high fifth pin.
Lance Valiquette (Fr.-Eau Claire/Auburn) became the first Blugold to reach ten wins with a 13-2 major decision win at 174 pounds. The victory improved Valiquette's record to 10-7 on the year.
Larry Moen (Sr.-Madison/East) improved his record to 6-4 on the year with a 3-1 decision in the heavyweight class. Derek Sikora (Jr.-Neillsville) improved to 6-0 on the year with a forfeit win at 165 pounds.
The Blugolds drop to 2-6 on the year with the loss.
Eau Claire will be in action next when they compete in the Cornell Invitational tomorrow. The invite is set to begin at 9 a.m.
