PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire soccer team picked up its fourth shutout victory of the season after defeating UW-Platteville 4-0 today.

The win for the Blugolds (6-2, 2-0 WIAC) was their fifth in a row for the season and the 24th in a row over Platteville (5-4, 0-2 WIAC). The Blugolds have never lost to the Pioneers in the history of the program (24-0-0).

All the scoring came in the first half, with Rachel Nerison (Jr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) opening up the scoring just over a minute into the contest.

Next, Paige LeGate (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port), on an assist from Allie Stone (Fr.-Madison, Wis./Verona Area), found the back of the net at 7:08 to give the Blugolds a 2-0 lead.

Less than 11 minutes later, Kara Ryan (Fr.-Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) scored for Eau Claire, unassisted, while Nerison scored again at 19:57 with an assist from Shyla Gilbertson (So.-Waunakee, Wis.) to make the score 4-0.

The Blugolds peppered the Platteville goal in the first half with 21 shots, 14 being on-goal. In the second half, the Blugolds took just five shots to finish outshooting the Pioneers 26-2.

Amanda Hakala (So.-Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) played the entire game in the goal for Eau Claire. Kaitlyn Wiedeman played 77:15 for Platteville and saved 10 shots while allowing four goals. Mallory Bender was in-goal for 12:45 for the Pioneers.
