EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's basketball teams will host Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent UW-Platteville Saturday as part of a doubleheader.

The men hold a 59-38 record against the Pioneers dating back to 1928. Eau Claire split two closely contested battles last year with each team winning on the road. The Blugolds lost the first game when Platteville's Brad Reitzner hit a jumper with less than a second left to give the Pioneers a one-point win. Eau Claire won in Platteville behind a then career-high 20 points from Will Jefferson (Sr.-Wausau/East). Jefferson didn't miss a shot from the field in leading the Blugolds to a 65-61 win.

Casey Drake (Sr.-Rhinelander) scored 33 points combined between the two games while Jefferson added 24 and Dan Archambault (Sr.-Oshkosh/West) 22.

Eau Claire comes into this weekend with a 9-3 record and riding a six-game win streak. The Blugolds are alone in second place with a 3-1 record in the WIAC.

Drake leads the Blugolds in scoring at 17.4 points a game and assists with 3.3 a game. Archambault is second at 14.5 points a game including 52.4 percent from behind the arc. Jefferson is third at 12.3 points a game.

The Pioneers come into the game with a 7-5 record but have dropped their last two games to Elmhurst College and UW-Oshkosh. Platteville is third in the WIAC with a 2-2 record.

First Team All-WIAC performer Reitzner leads the Pioneers at 14.8 points a game followed by Brandon Temperly at 11 a game. LeVon Crawford adds 10.8 points and 5.5 boards a game.

The Blugold women hold a 36-12 lifetime record against Platteville dating back to 1978. Eau Claire has won the last five contests against the Pioneers winning by double digits in both games last year. Liz Van Drasek (Jr.-Albertville, MN/St.-Michael-Albertville) had strong showings in both games last year scoring 18 points and pulling down 13 boards combined.

Eau Claire comes into the game with a 9-4 record following a loss to 19th-ranked Millikin. The Blugolds are tied for third in conference with three other teams with a 2-2 record.

Jessica Dickey (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) leads three Blugolds scoring between 11 and 12 points a game at 11.9 a game. Michelle Burns (Fr.-Eau Claire/North) is second at 11.7 points a game while Rachel Becker (Jr.-Gilmanton) scores 11 a game. Burns leads Eau Claire in rebounding at 7.2 a game while Becker leads in assists with 4.5 a game.

Platteville comes in with a 9-3 record and joins Eau Claire with a 2-2 record in conference play. The Pioneers had won seven straight games before falling to 3rd-ranked UW-Oshkosh.

Junior forward Holly Kaiser leads Platteville at 13.6 points a game while shooting nearly 54 percent from the field. Senior center Shannon Boatman is second on the team at 11.9 points a game while pulling down a team-high 8.1 boards a game.

The men's game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. followed by the women's game at 7:30 p.m.
