(UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire player Katie Stalker (Sr.-Madison, Wis./La Follette) has been named a 2010 adidas Golden Shoe award winner, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced today. The adidas Golden Shoe award is presented annually to the top base stealer from an NFCA member institution in each of the following divisions: NCAA (Divisions I, II and III), NAIA, NJCAA (Divisions I, II and III), Cal JC, NWAACC and high school. Stalker, a 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Great Lakes region first-team honoree, stole 33 bases in 36 attempts last season and averaged 0.79 stolen bases per game. The senior infielder led the Blugolds offensively in 2010 by hitting .434 on the year with 63 hits, 39 runs and 13 walks. Stalker holds a school record for most stolen bases in a career with 75, eight more than the previous record held by Tammy Brandt. |
