Track & Field Teams Honored with USTFCCCA Academic Awards By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director NEW ORLEANS, La. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire track and field teams were honored recently with U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic honors, the association announced. Both the men's and women's teams were named All-Academic Teams. The women were one of 106 teams to earn the award after finishing with a 3.39 GPA. The men were among 68 teams after they finished with a 3.10 GPA. In addition to the team awards, 15 individuals were named All-Academic honorees. The men finished with seven selections while the women had eight. Named to the men's team were: Tim Braunschweig (Sr.-Mukwonago, Wis.), Tom Breitbach (So.-Muskego, Wis.), Tyler Genovese (So.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Kevin Hall (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble), Joe Lilek (So.-Tomahawk, Wis.), Bart Mestelle (So.-Sun Prairie, Wis.) and Andy Sol (Sr.-Menomonie, Wis.). Named to the women's team were: Talisa Emberts (So.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton), Brittany Frederick (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble), Hannah Humbach (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life), Kim Miresse (So.-Waukesha, Wis./North), Kelly Palmer (Jr.-Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska), Maria Peloquin (Jr.-Prescott, Wis.), Corinna Saager (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) and Erin Schoenfelder (Fr.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community). To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either the NCAA Division III automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event. |
