(UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire men's tennis head coach Tom Gillman has announced the team award winners for the 2009-10 season. Chris Kuna (So.-Edina, Minn.) was named the team's Player of the Year. Kuna finished the season with a 23-6 singles record, splitting time at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. In doubles play, he recorded a 27-6 record, playing mainly in the No. 1 spot. At the end of the season, he was ranked ninth in the central region in doubles play with his partner Phil Loprinzi (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo). Eric Wollum (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won the Most Improved award. He finished the season with a record of 22-7 in singles play and 24-3 in doubles play. A season ago he was 13-8 and 14-7, respectively. Winning the Team Player Award was Loprinzi. He finished with a 13-12 record on the singles side and 26-6 in doubles play. The Blugold Award went to Kevin Fawcett (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Verona) while Ben Robertson (Fr.-Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) won the Coach's Award. Fawcett finished with a 24-6 singles and 22-6 doubles record, while Robertson was 10-6 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles competition. Olson and Wollum were also named captains for next season. |
