Women Blugolds End 2004 In Victory

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team allowed just 15 points in each half as the Blugolds topped SUNY-Potsdam 74-30 here today in their final game at the Land of Magic Classic.
Eau Claire moves to 9-3 on the season with the victory at the event, which does not crown a team champion. SUNY-Potsdam falls to just 1-7 on the year.
The Blugolds held Potsdam to just 17.4 percent from the floor, including just 14.3 percent in the second half. Potsdam converted on just eight shots in 46 attempts. Eau Claire also used a 51-35 rebound advantage to earn the victory.
Jessica Dickey (Sr.-White Bear Lake, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) paced the Blugolds with 14 points while leading the team with five assists. Dickey also tallied five rebounds and two steals in the victory. Katie Murphy (Sr.-La Crosse/Aquinas) tallied 12 points, four steals, four rebounds and an assist while hitting 4-of-7 from behind the three-point arc.
Rachel Becker (Jr.-Gilmanton) grabbed a team-best nine rebounds to go along with five points.
Kathleen Lewis led Potsdam with 11 points while Darcell Lucas had a game-best 10 rebounds.
Eau Claire will be back in action January 5, when the Blugolds host Millikin for Youth Night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at W.L. Zorn Arena.
