Women's Golf Remains in Second at NCAA Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (UWECBlugolds.com) - Despite recording its highest score of the tournament so far, the UW-Eau Claire women's golf team remained in second place after round three of the NCAA Division III Championship at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort.

The Blugolds finished with 334 strokes today and combined with 331 and 320 from day one and two, they now have 985 strokes for the tournament. Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) closed the gap to tie the Blugolds after shooting 322 today. Methodist Univeristy (N.C.) remained in the lead with 965 strokes.

Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) led the Blugolds with a 79 strokes today and now has 242 for the tournament, tied for ninth place overall.

Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) is tied for 13th with 245 strokes while Torie Ives (Sr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) is tied for 17th with 247 strokes. Tied for 31st place is Lauren Gault (So.-Shorewood, Wis.) with 254 strokes and Emily Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) is tied for 40th with 259.

The championship will conclude tomorrow. The Blugolds will begin teeing off at 1:20 p.m. (Eastern).
