Women's Track Places Third at Oshkosh Invite

OSHKOSH, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track and field team took third place out of six teams in the Oshkosh Invite at J.J. Keller Field on Saturday.
The Blugolds had several competitors place in the top three at the meet.
On the track, in the 100-meter hurdles, Kim Miresse (So.-Waukesha, Wis./North) placed third with a time of 15.23. Charissa Drake (So.-Orfordville, Wis./Parkview) placed third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:29.77.
The Blugolds also placed well in the field events. Hayley Suckow (Sr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) took first in the pole vault with a leap of 3.85 meters (12-7.5), improving on her NCAA provisional qualifying mark. In the discus throw, Brittany Frederick (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) placed second with a toss of 46.34 meters (152), an NCAA provisional qualifying distance. Julia Baranek (So.-Port Washington, Wis.) placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.60 meters (5-3).
The Blugolds next compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championship in River Falls, Wis. The two-day event is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 7 at noon.
