(UWECBlugolds.com) - Despite holding the lead after day one of the Carleton College Invitational, the UW-Eau Claire women's golf team fell back to second place after the final round at Northfield Golf Club today. The Blugolds shot 322 the first day and 325 the second day for a combined score of 647. However, Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) had a tournament-low 313 today and combined with its 326 from yesterday, won the event with 639 strokes. St. Olaf College (Minn.) took third with 658 strokes in the 13-team field. Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) led the Blugolds as she finished with 159 strokes, tied for fourth place. Gustavus' Taylor Drenttel took home medalist honors with 153 strokes. Tying for sixth place was Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) with 161 strokes while Torie Ives (Sr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) tied for eighth with 163 and Emily Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) tied for 10th with 165. The Blugolds wrap up the regular season next weekend when they host the Blugold Spring Invitational. Action will get underway at noon Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday. |
