(UWECBlugolds.com) - The second-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in second place out of eleven teams at the University of St. Thomas Invitational at Pebble Creek Golf Club. The Blugolds finished the 36-hole tournament with 646 strokes while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) won with 620. St. Olaf College (Minn.) took third with 659 and the College of St. Benedict (Minn.) was fourth with 662 strokes. Eau Claire also had a second team in action, which finished fifth with 665. Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) had the Blugolds' best finish of the tournament as she took fifth with 158 strokes. She has finished in fifth place or better in four different events this season, winning once. Tying for sixth was Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation), who had 160 strokes, while Torie Ives (Sr.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) tied for 13th with 165 and Emily Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) tied for 16th with 166. Leading the Blugolds' second team was Katie Swift (Jr.-Onalaska, Wis.), tying for 13th place with 165 strokes. The Blugolds will be back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Carleton College Invitational in Northfield, Minn. |
