The Blugolds took the top four spots individually, and all 10 Eau Claire golfers finished in 12th place or better in the 30-golfer field. Eau Claire won the tournament with 647 strokes while the Blugolds' second team took second place with 685. Central College finished third with 726 strokes while Simpson College took fourth with 759 and a second group of Central College golfers was fifth with 811. Catherine Wagner (Fr.-Austin, Minn.) had the tournament's best round today as she shot a 76. Her two-day total came in at 159 to tie teammate Katie Maurer (So.-Forest Lake, Minn./Convent of the Visitation) for the top spot. Emily Swift (So.-Onalaska, Wis.), who led after the first round, finished with 162 strokes to take third while Lauren Gault (So.-Shorewood, Wis.) had 167 strokes to finish fourth. Leading the Blugolds' second team was Maggie Lattery (So.-Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern), who finished with a total of 171 strokes to tie for fifth place. The Blugolds will be back in action next weekend for the two-day St. Thomas Invitational. The first round will be contested Saturday while the tournament will conclude Sunday. |
