Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Tennis Tops Wheaton 7-2 By: BJ Pickard, Sports Information Student EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team continued its winning ways against Wheaton College (Ill.) on Saturday with a 7-2 victory over the Thunder at Ade Olson Courts. The Blugolds took four-of-six in singles competition. Chris Kuna (So.-Edina, Minn.) won at the No. 2 spot 6-0, 6-2, while Lars Olson (Jr.-De Pere, Wis.) won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3. Kevin Fawcett (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Verona) took No. 4 6-1, 6-2 and Florent Marco (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won a tight matchup at No. 6 singles 6-3, 0-6, 10-8. Eau Claire swept doubles play. Kuna and Phil Loprinzi (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) won at No. 1 doubles 8-0. Olson and Fawcett took the No. 2 spot 8-6 while Eric Wollum (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) and Dirk Van Rybroek (So.-Madison, Wis./Edgewood) won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles. The team improves to 20-4 on the season after the win. The Blugolds, ranked 13th overall in the region, are off until Friday, April 16 when they head to UW-La Crosse to take on the Eagles. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. |
