Women's Tennis Closes Spring Break Trip with Win

ORLANDO, Fla. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip defeating the University of West Alabama 5-2 today.
Eau Claire improves to 15-3 on the season while West Alabama drops to 12-9.
The Blugolds won four singles match and one doubles match to finish with the 5-2 win. The No. 2 and No. 3 were left unfinished as the Blugolds had already secured the dual meet victory with the five other wins.
Brenna McCormick (Sr.-Greendale, Wis.) gave up just one game as she won 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles spot. The rest of the singles matches were more closely contested.
Gina Dahl (Sr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) picked up a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 victory at No. 1 while Erin Welch (Sr.-Tomah, Wis.) won 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 4 and Courtney Lynne (Sr.-Rochester, Minn./Mayo) recorded a 7-6 (7-3), 5-7, 6-2 win in the No. 5 spot.
In doubles play, Dahl and Lynne won 8-2 in the No. 1 spot.
The Blugolds will be back in action next Friday (April 9) when they take on Wartburg College (Iowa) at home beginning at 3 p.m. Eau Claire will also face the University of Minnesota club team later in the evening at the YMCA Tennis Center in Eau Claire.
