Mon, May 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Johnston Named NWCA Scholar All-American By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (UWECBlugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire wrestler Andy Johnston (Sr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) was recently recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as a Scholar All-American. To be eligible for recognition, a wrestler must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and either be a national qualifier with at least a .500 overall record, finish fourth or higher at a qualifying tournament and hold a .500 record for the season, or have a .670 overall record and competed in at least half of their team's scheduled events. For the second year in a row, Johnston was named to the All-American team. He holds a 3.60 cumulative grade point average and majors in political science while minoring in business finance. Johnston competed at the NCAA Division III Championship this year and completed his career as a Blugold with a 98-47 record. This season he finished second at the WIAC Championship and end the year with a mark of 27-11. |
