Women's Cross Country to be Honored at Division I Basketball Game

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team will be honored for winning the NCAA Division III cross country title last fall, Sunday (March 21) during the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament, NCAA officials announced.
The Blugold women, who also earned recognition as the Scholar Team of the Year earlier this month, will be announced in front of a sold out crowd at halftime of the second game during the second round at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
The teams competing in the basketball tournament are Ohio State, University of California-Santa Barbara, Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, Xavier, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Oakland. The first round will be contested Friday to determine the matchups for Sunday.
Being recognized at the event will be Blugold head coach and USTFCCCA National Coach of the Year Dan Schwamberger, Assistant Coach Marcie Fischer, runners Beth Easker (Jr.-Wittenberg, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood), Margaret Ho (Jr.-Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln), Hannah Humbach (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life), Elly Prunty (Jr.-Antigo, Wis.), Kacey Rindy (So.-Fennimore, Wis.), Jenna Smith (Sr.-Robbinsdale, Minn.) and Alyssa Sybilrud (So.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville). Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon will also be in attendance.
