EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's indoor track and field team is set to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship, which will be held March 12 and 13 at DePauw University's Indoor Tennis and Track Center in Greencastle, Ind.
The Blugolds have five athletes qualified in four different events, three in the field and one on the track.
Eau Claire will compete in the distance medley relay after coming up with the third best time in the nation this year at the Pointer Last Chance meet on March 6. The relay team finished with a time of 11:50.06. The group that will compete at nationals includes Alyssa Sybilrud (So.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville), Hayley Suckow (Sr.-Elk Mound, Wis.), Maria Peloquin (Jr.-Prescott, Wis.) and Hannah Humbach (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life).
Brittany Frederick (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) will participate in two field events at this year's championship. She qualified in both the 20-pound weight throw and the shot put. A season ago Frederick also competed in the shot put at nationals but did not advance to the final round.
Suckow will also be at nationals this weekend, competing in the pole vault. She qualified with the sixth best height in the nation (3.85 meters, 12-7.5), achieved on February 13 at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
