Wed, Jun 19, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track and Field Competes in Last Chance Meet By: BJ Pickard, Sports Information Student STEVENS POINT, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team competed in the Pointer "Last Chance" Qualifier on Saturday. The meet provided the team with one final opportunity for competitors to qualify for nationals next weekend. Individually, two Blugolds finished in the top three in their events. On the track, Nickey Pietila (So.-Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) placed third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:29.08. In the field, Hayley Suckow (Sr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) placed third with a leap of 3.65 meters (11-11.75) in the pole vault, an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark. Eau Claire also placed second in the distance medley with a time of 11:50.06, one of the best times in the nation this season. The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held next Friday and Saturday at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. Events begin at 8 a.m. both days. |
