Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Mesick Leads Women's Basketball on All-WIAC Team By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director MADISON, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - Hannah Mesick (Jr.-Chatfield, Minn.) has been named a first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selection, conference sports information director Matt Stanek announced today. Mesick led the Blugolds and was second in the conference this season in scoring with 17.8 points per game. She also averaged 8.8 rebounds per game, which led the Blugolds and ranked third in the WIAC. Mesick led the Blugolds in scoring in 23 games this year and in rebounding 17 times, while she recorded 11 double-doubles. Completing her junior season, she has 998 points and ranks 15th on the Blugolds' all-time scoring list. Receiving honorable mention recognition on the All-WIAC team this year was Ellen Plendl (So.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell). She started 26 of 27 games and was the Blugolds' fourth leading scorer, averaging 8.7 points per game. Plendl was also second on the team in rebounding with 7.2 per game, which also ranked fifth in the conference, while she averaged 1.48 blocks per game, which ranked second in the WIAC. Ali Gillberg (Sr.-Drummond, Wis.) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, which is chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. Gillberg played in seven games this year. |
