(UWECBlugolds.com) - Four members of the UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team have earned recognition on this year's All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association list, conference sports information director Brian Monahan announced today. Receiving honorable mention were forwards Joe Bluhm (Sr.-Red Wing, Minn.) and Brant Marple (Sr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview), defenseman John Kearns (Jr.-Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South), and goalie Brandon Stephenson (Fr.-Saline, Mich.). Bluhm leads the Blugolds with 20 points this season, coming from nine goals and 11 assists. He has scored three power-play goals and one game-winner. Marple has a team-high 13 assists on the season, and along with five goals, is second on the team with 18 points. He has scored two game-winning goals, tying for a team best. Kearns has played in all 25 games so far this year and has six assists. He is part of a defense that has allowed 719 shots while the Blugolds have 801. Stephenson has played in 13 games, starting 12, and has accumulated almost 700 minutes between the pipes. He owns a save percentage of .917 and a goals-against average of 2.33. UW-Stout's Joel Gaulrapp was named the NCHA Player of the Year while St. Norbert College's Tim Coghlin was named Coach of the Year. |
