Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Suckow Sets Facility Record at UW-Platteville Invitational By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - Hayley Suckow (Sr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) set a Williams Fieldhouse record in the pole vault as the UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational today. Winning the pole vault, Suckow finished with a height of 3.85 meters (12-7.5), just three-quarters of an inch shy of the conference record and one and three-quarters of an inch short of a school record. Steph Barnes holds both records and set them in 2006. The facility record Suckow broke was 3.66 meters. Suckow automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III championship with the height. The Blugolds also had a winner in the 3,000-meter run, with Hannah Humbach (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) taking the top spot with a time of 10:02.12. Eau Claire won the 4x200-meter relay as well, finishing in a time of 1:47.43, more than a second in front of the rest of the field. In the one-mile run, Alyssa Sybilrud (So.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville) was second with a time of 5:03.89 while Talisa Emberts (So.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) finished in third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.83. Next up, the Blugolds will travel to Stevens Point for the Pointer Invite. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. next Saturday. |
