Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestlers Win Nailbiter Over Msoe Posted: Saturday, December 11, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team opened a 16-3 lead and held on for a 22-19 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering here today at the McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugolds improve to 2-5 on the season in dual meets while the Raiders fall to 1-5 overall in dual meets. Derek Sikora (Jr.-Neillsville) and Lance Valiquette (Fr.-Eau Claire/Auburn) began competition with back-to-back wins to give Eau Claire a quick 9-0 lead. Sikora topped MSOE's Jerry Blahut with an 18-5 decision at 165 pounds before Valiquette pinned Matt Letto in 4:16. Joe Fields put MSOE on the board with a win at 184 pounds but Josh Holforty (Fr.-Bloomington, MN/Kennedy) topped Tyler Knutson 14-4 to give the Blugolds a 13-3 lead. Next up was Larry Moen (Sr.-Madison/East), who earned a 4-2 victory over Bill Frank in the heavyweight division. Shane Brady (Fr.-Chetek) earned a 4-3 victory at 133 pounds and Dave Vanevenhoven (Jr.-Kaukauna) took an 8-3 victory at 149 pounds to secure the Eau Claire win. The Blugolds will take nearly a month off for the holiday break and return to action January 7, when they head to Mt.
