Thu, Jun 20, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey Takes Down No. 10 River Falls Posted: Saturday, December 11, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team held 10th-ranked UW-River Falls scoreless for the final 58:09 of the game as the Blugolds earned a 4-1 victory here today at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds improve to 4-3-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play while the Falcons fall to 7-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the NCHA. The game started off on an ugly note for the Blugolds, as River Falls' Leah Baron tallied a goal just 1:51 into the contest to give the Falcons a quick 1-0 lead. It was the last goal River Falls would manage against Blugold goalie Jill Arendt (Fr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata). Eau Claire tied the game 7:43 into the first period, when Laura Suppes (So.-Falcon Heights, MN/Roseville) picked apart a Falcon power play and scored a short-handed goal to even things up. The goal was Suppes' third of the season and the last for either team in the first period. Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) tallied the game-winning goal 7:42 into the second period but the Blugolds were far from done. Less than six minutes later Christa Hubert (Sr.-Blaine, MN) tallied her first goal of the season to give Eau Claire a 3-1 lead. Schultz put the game away with 5:52 left in the second period, scoring her second goal of the game and eighth of the season for a 4-1 Blugold win. Arendt tallied 27 saves on the game for the Blugolds to improve her season record to 4-3-1. Both teams totaled 28 shots on goal in the contest. The Blugolds will enjoy a long holiday break and return to action Wednesday, January 5 when they host Hamline. The game is set for 7:05 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Arena.
