Fri, May 24, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Finishes Ninth at UW-Eau Claire Invitational By: Matt Troge, Sports Information Student EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team took ninth place today out of 13 teams at the 32nd Annual UW-Eau Claire Invitational at McPhee Physical Education Center. The Blugolds received 66.5 points on the day, falling just half a point short of eighth place UW-Whitewater. Augsburg College (Minn.) took first place with 221 points while UW-La Crosse received second with a score of 149.5 and UW-Parkside was third with 126. Itasca Community College (Minn.) finished last with a score of 13 points. Andy Johnston (Sr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) led the team with a second place finish in the 149-pound weight class, losing a decision in the first place match to Bobby Dorn of La Crosse 15-13. Jon Ames (Sr.-Genoa, Wis./Viroqua) took third place in the 157-pound weight class with a 8-4 decision over Ridgewater's Chase Temple in the third place match. The Blugolds will host UW-La Crosse on Wednesday in their second to last home event of the season. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m. |
