Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Hockey stung By Yellowjackets Posted: Friday, December 10, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey was outshot 34-12 in losing to 8th-ranked UW-Superior 4-1 here tonight at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds kept the game close through the first period trailing 1-0 going into the first intermission. But Superior wasted no time increasing the lead scoring two goals in the first four minutes of the second period to go up 3-0. The Yellowjackets added a shorthanded goal with 7:35 left in the second. Eau Claire trimmed the lead to three when Amanda Schultz (Jr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) scored on a pass from Christa Hubert (Sr.-Blaine, MN) for her team-best fifth goal. The Blugolds committed only two penalties for four minutes while Superior committing four for two minutes. Neither team was able to take advantage of power play opportunities. The loss drops Eau Claire to 3-3-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. Superior improves to 6-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the NCHA. The Blugolds will be in action next when they host 10th-ranked UW-River Falls tomorrow at Hobbs Ice Center. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:05 p.m. - JL - |
