EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team won against conference opponent UW-Whitewater today at the McPhee Physical Education Center.

The Blugolds handled the Warhawks with ease, defeating them 144-89.

Eau Claire had nine first place finishes while also taking eight second place finishes.

Kirsten Lickel (So.-Madison, Wis./East) took the first place position in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:01.66 while Casey Preissel (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) finished the 200-yard freestyle in first with a time of 1:59.21.

Hannah Ramquist (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) beat her competition in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.44 while Nicole Dorvinen (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) took the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.73.

Ann Grossklaus (Sr.-Rib Mountain, Wis./Wausau West) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.57 seconds and Megan Finley (Jr.-Waunakee, Wis.) took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.84.

The 200-yard medley relay team completed its day with a first place finish with a final time of 1:54.31.

Katrina Fitzgerald (Fr.-Farmington, Minn.) led the divers in the one-meter event and the three-meter event with scores of 232.35 and 214.50, respectively.

The Blugolds will now prepare for the WIAC Championships which will be contested Feb. 11-13 in Minneapolis, Minn.
