Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Swimming & Diving Finishes Fourth at Stevens Point Invite By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director STEVENS POINT, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving team took fourth place at the UW-Stevens Point Invite today. Out of the seven teams competing, the Blugolds earned 452 points, falling to host UW-Stevens Point, who took first place with 1123 points. UW-Whitewater took second place with 648 points and UW-La Crosse took third with 517 points. The Blugolds had nine fifth place or better finishes today at the Stevens Point Invite. Nick Badilla (Fr.-Appleton, Wis./North) led the way for the Blugolds in the diving category as he took first place in the one-meter diving event with a final score of 401.45 while also taking second place in the three-meter diving event with a final score of 467.30. Ben Macalalad (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./East) finished fourth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.01 while Alex Plaetzer (So.-Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) took fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.89 seconds. Nick Mehring (Jr.-Eagan, Minn./Eastview) took fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.08, while Chris Paradeise (Jr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) took fifth place with a time 1:53.35. Paradeise also took fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:28.37. Corey Groshens (Fr.-St. Louis Park, Minn./Hopkins) took fifth place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.90. Groshens also took fifth place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.41. The Blugolds will be at home next Saturday for a meet against UW-Whitewater. Action will get underway at 1 p.m. at the McPhee Physical Education Center. |
