Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Swimming & Diving Takes Second at Stevens Point Invite By: Matt Troge, Sports Information Student STEVENS POINT, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's swimming and diving team took second place at the UW-Stevens Point Invite today. Out of the ten teams competing, the Blugolds earned 763.5 points, falling only to host UW-Stevens Point, which received 799 points. Hillsdale College took third place with 521 points while UW-La Crosse took fourth place with 430 points. Nicole Dorvinen (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) led Eau Claire with two first place finishes, taking the top spot in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.23 and in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:40.17. She also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:12.55. Julia Olson (So.-Faribault, Minn.) recorded a first-place finish individually as she took the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle with time of 24.30 seconds. Olson also took third place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.39 seconds. Hannah Ramquist (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) took second place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.11 while Casey Preissel (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) took second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.54. The 400-yard freestyle relay team also took first place with a time of 3:40.29 On the diving side, Katrina Fitzgerald (Fr.-Farmington, Minn.) took fifth place in the one meter diving with 377.35 points. The Blugolds will be at home next Saturday for a meet against UW-Whitewater. Action will get underway at 1 p.m. at the McPhee Physical Education Center. |
