EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team started off well against the No. 1-ranked UW-Whitewater Warhawks tonight, but ended up falling 178.675-174.150 at the McPhee Physical Education Center.
The Blugolds kicked off the night on the vault and won the event 46.025-45.175. However, Whitewater won the other three events to edge the Blugolds overall.
Eau Claire held the top two spots on the vault, with Cece Solem (Fr.-Mendota Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley) leading the way with a career-best 9.425. Sarah Hulbert (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./North) took second in the event with a season-best 9.350.

She improved tremendously over last week when she scored an 8.600. Schulzetenberg also finished second in the floor exercise with a 9.225.
On the uneven bars, Claire Johnson (Fr.-Eagan, Minn.) led the way for Eau Claire with an 8.625, taking third. Solem had a third place finish in the all-around competition with a 34.375.
