Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Women's Track & Field Finishes Third in Season Opener By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team kicked off the 2010 season by taking third place out of four teams at the Blugold Open today at the McPhee Physical Education Center. Winona State University (Minn.) won the event with 228 points while UW-La Crosse was second with 201 and UW-Eau Claire was third with 106. St. Mary's University (Minn.) was fourth with eight points. The Blugolds had three first place finishes on the night, two coming in the field events. Hayley Suckow (Sr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) won the pole vault with a height of 3.64 meters (11-11.25) and Julia Baranek (So.-Port Washington, Wis.) won the high jump after finishing with a leap of 1.62 meters (5-03.75). On the track, Hannah Humbach (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Abundant Life) captured the win in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:21.83. She finished almost six seconds ahead of the rest of the field as the Blugolds swept the top seven spots in the event. The Blugolds will once again be at home next weekend, hosting a triangular that will feature UW-Stevens Point and UW-Platteville. Action is set to get underway at noon Saturday. |
