Tue, May 21, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Falls to Ninth-Ranked St. Cloud State By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director ST. CLOUD, Minn. (UWECBlugolds.com) - One night after facing NCAA Division II and 12th-ranked Minnesota-Mankato, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team traveled to ninth-ranked Division II St. Cloud State (Minn.) but came up short 35-12. With the loss the Blugolds drop to 1-14 in dual meets on the season. The Blugolds picked up just one win last night, but recorded three tonight. Will Christ (So.-Shell Lake, Wis.) had the Blugolds' best win of the night, pinning Ted Saatzer at 184 pounds in 2:17. Andy Johnston (Sr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech), who secured the lone Blugold win last night, finished with a 5-0 victory tonight at 149 pounds. He improves to 11-5 on the season. The final winner for Eau Claire tonight was Zach Weisenberger (So.-Ladysmith, Wis.). He took home a 3-1 victory at 141 pounds over Weston Hanson. The Blugolds will now take tomorrow off and will then travel to Oshkosh for the UW-Oshkosh Open on Sunday. Action will get underway at 9 a.m. |
