Sat, May 25, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Wrestling Takes on Division II MSU-Mankato By: Kevin Meinholz, Sports Information Director MANKATO, Minn. (UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team was defeated by NCAA Division II opponent Minnesota State University-Mankato 41-3 at the Taylor Center tonight. The Mavericks, ranked 12th in Division II, improve to 5-1 in dual meets on the season while Eau Claire drops to 1-13. The Blugolds' only win of the evening came at 149 pounds when Andy Johnston (Sr.-St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) defeated Jesse Westphal with a 7-5 decision. Johnston came from behind for the win as he got down early and the two were tied at 5-5 with just 30 seconds left. With 21 seconds to go, Johnston recorded a takedown, earning two points to score the win. Eau Claire will face another Division II opponent tomorrow night, taking on ninth-ranked St. Cloud State University (Minn.). The match is set to get underway at 7 p.m. in St. Cloud. |
