Wed, May 22, 2013 No Event(s) Scheduled For Selected Date Men's Hockey To Host Stevens Point Posted: Wednesday, December 8, 2004 EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team will host UW-Stevens Point as the second game of a home and home series with the Pointers this weekend. The Blugolds have a 23-51-3 series record against the Pointers with a 1-7 record in the last eight games. Eau Claire lost the season opener to Stevens Point 3-1 in an evenly played game. Brooks Lockwood (So.-Hudson) scored the opening goal of the game for the Blugolds but the Pointers scored the next three to earn the win. Eau Claire comes into the weekend with a 7-4-1 overall record. The Blugolds rode a six-game winning streak over non-conference opponents before falling to UW-River Falls and tying UW-Stout 2-2. Rob Ouimette (Sr.-Iron Bridge, ONT/Leamington District) leads the Blugold attack with team-highs in both goals and assists. Ouimette has 13 goals on only 14 shots and eight assists. Chip Dunleavy (Jr.-Littleton, CO/Columbine) is second on the team with 13 points while Phil Cherneski (Sr.-Thompson, MAN/RDPC) and Dave Coleman (So.-Whitby, ONT/Leo J. Austin) each have 12. The Pointers come into the weekend with a 5-3-2 record. Stevens Point has been up and down all season but came up with a big 7-4 win over 9th-ranked UW-River Falls in their last outing. Stevens Point is led Adam Kostichka and Mike Brolsma with 13 points each. Kostichka leads the Pointers with seven goals while Brolsma leads with ten assists. The Pointers split up their goalie time with Jim Redpath starting five games and Bryn Davies four. Redpath has stopped nearly 89 percent of shots while Brolsma has stopped nearly 85 percent. The game is scheduled to begin Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Center. - JL - |
