(UWECBlugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team shut down Bethel University (Minn.) with a 1-0 victory at Hobbs Ice Center tonight. The two teams played fairly even as Eau Claire had 26 shots and Bethel had 24, but the Blugolds' recorded the lone goal in the second period to improve to 8-5-1 on the season. At 12:01 in the second, Beth Dittrich (Sr.-Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) found the back of the Royals' net with an assist from Kristin Faber (Jr.-Austin, Minn.) to give the Blugolds the 1-0 lead. It was Dittrich's sixth goal of the season. While Eau Claire outshot Bethel 9-8 in the second, the Royals outshot the Blugolds 11-7 in the third. Danika Porter (Jr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) was able to defend the Blugolds' net well, stopping every one of the shots to improve to 4-2-1 on the season. Bethel, which the Blugolds have lost to just twice in history, falls to 3-8 overall. The Blugolds are 14-2 all-time against the Royals. Eau Claire will wrap up its six-game home stand Wednesday with a contest at Hobbs against Augsburg College (Minn.). The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. |
